The Africa Institute of Small Scale Mining (AISSM) has appointed Abdul-Salam Yussif as Country Director for The Republic of Ghana. Mr. Yussif will lead AISSM operations in Ghana, manage AISSM’s relationship with the government and development partners, and oversee the implementation of AISSM’s 2022–2025 country partnership strategy. The strategy aims to help Ghana emerge stronger from a dispensation of wide spread cases of illicit mining to a responsible mining regime in the small scale mining sector.
“AISSM is seeking to be a long-term development partner of Ghana and relevant stakeholders in the small scale mining sector,” said Mr. Yussif. “I look forward to building a strong partnership and working closely with the government and other stakeholders to support the country’s small scale mining development agenda. My immediate priority is to assist the government in creating jobs through responsible mining and building capacity of players in the sector.”
Mr. Yussif is an African entrepreneur with vast experience in the oil & gas downstream sector, Precious metal brokerage and a commodity trader. He is the ceo and founder of Yastechnology Limited. A company duly registered with RGDs in 2013. His company focuses in consultancy services in commodity trading, oil & gas , construction and precious metal brokerage services.
He has been invited to various conferences in the oil & gas and precious metals industry in Ghana and abroad. He is the managing partner for EnergyDirect Limited, an oil distribution company in Ghana. He was appointed the executive secretary of Aku Group in Dubai last year. Mr. Yussif holds numerous leadership positions in Ghana and abroad.

Africa Institute of Small Scale Mining organizes Women in Mining Summit annually, it also partnered with the National Youth Development Agency of the South African government and Black Business Council to organize Youth in Mining Forum in Cape Town. AISSM will hold the first edition of Africa Small Scale Mining Awards on 23rd September in Ghana this year. AISSM is headquartered in Cape Town, South Africa.
