A renowned scholar popularly known as Mallam Zuberu lost his life as a result of a hot water poured on him in a heated argument with his wife. Mallam Zuberu is a teacher at Adabiya Islamic School and the Imam of Alawiye Mosque at Akotex Accra Newtown.The wife who is known as Habiba has four kids with the deceased. Three boys and a girl and they have been married for almost 15 years.The incident took place at Accra Newtown,Akotex.
According to source,the woman wanted a divorce and the husband denied her.
Prior to the incident,HABIBA left to her parents house but her father who is very strict immediately sent her packing back to the husband’s house.She wanted her husband to divorce her at all cost and decided to end his life to have her freedom.
Around dawn when her husband was still sleeping,HABIBA boiled hot water and added salt.She then poured its on her husband when everyone has gone to the mosque to pray.He screamed and she poured on the other side of his body.
For the love he has for his wife he decides to keep it a secret from his family. He took a taxi to the Mamoobi General Hospital. After examining him he was transferred to the Ridge Hospital.
He didn’t have enough money on him so returned home.He collapsed right in-front of his house upon leaving the hospital and that was when the issue became known to the public.He was then rushed to the hospital.
When his wife Habiba was confronted she said she’d wanted to kill him and he is even lucky he survived.
Unfortunately he died yesterday and buried today.
HABIBA is currently in police custody and will appear before a law court.
