A sickle cell patient and also author of a book dubbed “*Will my story inspire you?- Striving to success with sickle cell*” Hajia Adiza Bala Faila, has called on the Muslim communities not to take the disease for granted and go for a test before any marital union.
Sickle cell disease has been with us since centuries but little did we know the struggle those living with the disease go through out their lifetime until recently when awareness was created to educate people about the disease.
Whiles education on the disease is vast apprehended and received in the western world, Africa most especially in the densely populated area are unaware of the disease that is claiming millions of money amidst the struggle, and battling with each seconds,minutes day and night of a person living with sickle cell disease as they depend on medicines for survival in our localities.
Speaking to Hijra TV news, at a book launch dubbed “*Will my story inspire you, Striving to success with sickle cell*” the author of the book, Hajia Adiza Bala Faila explained the need to educate people most especially those in the Muslim communities as they luck education about the disease.
Hajia Adiza Bala Faila again explained to us the formation of sickle cell disease.
She further said that, it is about time Muslim communities take caution and always go for a test on sickle cell disease before they engaged themselves into a marital union as children born with the disease straggles a lot with the fear of dieing at any moment of their lives.
According to her, it is about time people stop the stigmatization and try to be human and their affair with the sickle cell disease patients.
Hijra TV news interview with Hajia Fati Amadu mother of the author of the book she said it is not an easy task raising a child with a sickle cell disease where she calls on parents especially those with sickle cell disease children to show love and care to them and also give them the necessary support they need to live a normal life.
