- Ghanaian fashion designer, Ophelia Crossland, is the first African designer to showcase her work at Qipao Invitational Exhibition

- Crossland’s initial sketch was selected out of close to 5,000 sketches African designers are stamping their greatness in all corners of the world. Just recently, Ghanaian fashion designer, Ophelia Crossland, emerged as the only African designer chosen from thousands to showcase her designs at Qipao Invitational Exhibition, at the National Silk Museum, Hangzhou City, China.
Crossland’s initial sketch was selected out of close to 5,000 sketches that were submitted to the jury in 2019. The creative designer displayed a mix of Ghanaian Kente, Chinese Silk, Bold Roses Appliqués hand stitched and Crystals from Swarovski in her design which was proudly displayed at the exhibition. The China National Silk Museum, a leading fashion museum located close to the famous West Lake in Hangzhou, China, houses over 40,000 pieces of Western and Chinese textile productions spanning over 4000 years of human creativity. According to reports the Global Qipao Invitational Exhibition started on September 29 and will last for a month. It has successfully and still aims to provide cross-boundary interactions between culture and tourism, tradition, fashion, art and life.
