Renowned Scholar of Ahlisunna Wal Jama'a, Shiekh Suleman Ibrahim from Nigeria asked muslim scholars to involve in politics.He said this at the Conference in Cape coast.
In his statement he said: ”It’s unfortunate whenever scholars involve in politics they are tagged as taking sides.Muslims are been disrespected in the country and because we do not occupy higher position or have numbers in parliament.If islamic scholars involve in politics it will help in some decision making to protect our freedom or human right as muslims.How do we become Presidenst,MPs and Assemblymen if we run away from politic? “
The recent attack on Muslim women in hijab by some institutional heads in the country has drawn the attention of many Islamic scholars both local and international. This has gingered muslims to stand for themselves as it is an infringement on their right. The Muslim community believes its high time they get involved in Politics to protect their women and rights.
This will cahange the stereotype of Muslims and bring development in the communities.
“The Quran preaches everything about life and poltices is governace to improve a persons status.Improving our status is part of the teaching and we can do that if we involve in politics” he added.
Sheikh Suleman called on all scholars of Ahlisunna Wal Jama'a to be united because unity is the only way for peace to exixt.
