Sheikh Anas Tawfiq has also joined in the protests
against the Comprehensive Sex Education (CSE) proposed by the government to
introduce in the curriculum at primary schools in the country.
The renowned Islamic cleric and leader of the Darul
Hadith Institute for Islamic Studies in the Ashanti Region,also expressed dissatisfaction
with the treatments of Muslim women in hijab by institutional heads.
He made this statements
during his Friday Sermon at the DarulHadith Masjid saying that the
COMPREHENSIVE SEX EDUCATION [CSE] is unacceptable and also the action
against Muslim women is in breach of
their fundamental human rights as stated in Art 17 (1 and 2) of the 1992
Constitution of Ghana which states 17(1) “all persons shall be equal before the
law” & 17(2) “a person shall not be discriminated against on grounds of
gender, race, colour, ethnic origin, RELIGION, creed or social or economic
status”
The scholar said, “The way our women are being treated in
hijab at school and place of work is a total disrespect to our women and the religion”.
The constitution gives freedom to religion and dressing,he
added.
