The Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has decided and the decision of the committee chaired by Doe Adjaho the former speaker of parliament under NDC - Atta Mills - JM regime bounds every member of the NDC. The decision goes in favor of the sitting MP Hon. Muntaka Mubarak who has been given the green light to go unopposed to contest under the ticket of the National Democratic Congress in the upcoming 2020 general elections.
The constituent respect the decision of the FEC even though some section thinks the outcome suppressed the other candidate, defeats the principle of rule of law and the right to be voted for in our internal politics.
Some says level playing field should have been given to the contenders so that delegates can make a choice but the FEC thinks otherwise.
We can only caution the jubilant to do it moderately so that the other candidate and his supporters won’t feel teased and hence trade of insults and accusations.
Hon. Masawudu Mubarak is an asset to the NDC and must be bring onboard and tap into his pool of experience.
Many says they have monitored his interviews both on electronic and print media and yet to see him using any foul or abusive language on anybody. He has really exhibited maturity and I think he needs to be commended for that.
Asawase Constituency was carved out of the Asokwa Constituency in the Ashanti Region during the first term in office as president of His Excellency Former President John Agyekum Kuffour and was first won by the NDC candidate Dr. Jibril of blessed memory who passed away barely one year after entering into the parliament of Ghana. Bye-election was held in 2005 and Hon. Muntaka contested under the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and he was massively voted for and has since retain the for his party.
The incumbent Hon. Muntaka Mubarak and the NDC has been the custodian of the Asawase seat since 2005 till date. Hon. Muntaka has beaten quite number of formidable candidates from the NPP in the lights of Patricia Appiagyei (Hon. MP Asokwa), Dr. Rauf, Hon. Alidu (Asokore Mampong M.C.E).
He has brought a lot of developmental projects to the Asawase constituency through his lobby skills. Today the constitucy can boast of inter-links roads, schools blocks, desk, libraries, I.T learning Centre and other learning materials for schools within the constituency.
