(MENAFN - The Peninsula) QNAThe Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Dr. Mohammed bin Abdul Wahed Ali Al Hammadi stressed the quality of the educational process, including the services provided by the Ministry to the public.
H E the Minister pointed to several initiatives implemented by the Ministry to enhance the quality of education, including the development of curricula and learning resources, and attention to the quality of teachers through training and review of selection criteria, in addition, improve and develop mechanisms and procedures for tests. He called for justice in the evaluation of government school staff and create an attractive school environment.
This came in the Minister's speech at the annual meeting organised by the Ministry of Education with the principals of public schools on the occasion of the start of the academic year 2019-2020.
The Minister called on the employees of the Ministry to express their views freely through their official channels such as the teachers' advisory committee, the advisory committee of school principals and the staff committee, and submit their suggestions and views. Al Hammadi also called for preserving the secrets of work in the ministry and not to access the documents and publish them. He added that the Ministry doesn't prevent constructive criticism but encourage it, but it must be through official channels.
The Ministry wants the principal to be inspirational, creative, innovative and distinguished in his work and outputs, stressing the importance of continuous training and development in the educational process, the Minister said.
The Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Dr. Ibrahim bin Salih Al Nuaimi praised the role of school leadership in advancing the educational process. He said that the principals are the real leaders of the educational field and that educational policies give them the necessary powers to manage their schools. He called on the principals to apply laws, and regulations to improve academic achievement, and to take care of the school environment to be attractive, exciting and stimulating for both teacher and student.
The Assistant Under-Secretary for Educational Affairs of the Ministry Fawzia Abdulaziz Al Khater pointed to the need to implement the directives of the country's top leadership on education, especially with regard to diligence, creativity and independent thinking, constructive initiatives and attention to educational achievement in all disciplines, self-reliance and the fight against laziness and dependency. She urged school principals to apply institutional values such as transparency, innovation, excellence, participation, and accountability.
The annual meeting reviewed the general directions of the new academic year, developments, plans, programs and policies in several areas including: curricula and learning resources, educational guidance, early education, government schools affairs and teachers affairs, special education and gifted care, personnel affairs and other topics that enhance the quality of education and improve its outcomes.
